The University Foundation Programme (UFP) is for students who have completed secondary education in their own country and wish to prepare for entry to UK universities. Typically, it is a one year course.

This programme is designed for students who need to improve their English and academic skills before applying to UK universities. In addition to English Language teaching, the course specialises in academic studies, such as in Business and International Affairs.

As most universities require an IELTS score of at least 6.0, this course consists of English language study leading to IELTS. Students are also given grades for coursework and a final examination.

Teaching is in small classes and students live and study with other students from many different countries.

Students are supported by staff who oversee personal welfare and academic progress.

Comprehensive advice on selecting the right university in the UK is available. Individual support in the application process for university is also provided.

The Business specialisation can lead to a university course in Business, Management, Economics, Travel and Tourism, Hotel Management and related areas.

The International Affairs specialisation can lead to a university course in Politics, International Relations, Law, Sociology, Social Anthropology, Psychology, Philosophy and many others.

Students wishing to enrol on the University Foundation Programme should:

  • have gained a good standard of education in their own country
  • be 17 years of age or over
  • have a knowledge of English at or above IELTS score 5.0 or equivalent
